Family Law Consultation & Assessment
Objective If you are confronted with the possibility of divorce, legal separation or other family law problems, a consultation will provide you with a legal assessment of your unique situation and also the opportunity to examine your options in light of your psychological and economic needs. This discussion takes place in a sympathetic environment with a knowledgeable, objective, and highly experienced professional. It will help you use the legal system wisely and economically. Procedure We will spend a single 2½ - to 3-hour session, during which:
Cost The cost for this extended session is $375, which is payable at the time of the conference and can be charged to a Visa or MasterCard account. Representation Except in highly unusual cases I do not represent clients in adversarial proceedings. Part of our work together may be to determine what kind of an attorney you need (if any). I remain objective because the service is designed so that whatever decisions you make have no effect on me. Privilege The information received at the conference is absolutely privileged and confidential. I will not provide professional services to the other party. When I have had this kind of a consultation with one party, I will not provide mediation services to the couple, Qualifications I am a 1969 graduate of the University of California School of Law At Berkeley (Boalt Hall) and I have been certified by the State Bar of California as a Family Law Specialist since 1981. I have been in private practice in Santa Barbara since 1975 and was President of the Santa Barbara County Bar Association in 1989. I have taught subjects related to Family Law at a number of local institution and have lectured for both the California Administrative Office of the Courts and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. |
