The La Arcada Building is on the same block as the library and the Santa Barbara Museum
of Art. La Arcada is the home of the Acapulco Restaurant.
To the Parking Lot
- Whether coming from north or south on Highway 101 take the Carrillo Street exit.
- Drive on Carrillo east toward downtown
- Make a left (north) from Carrillo onto Chapala
- Drive on Chapala to Anapamu. Turn right (east) onto Anapamu
- Drive on Anapamu across State Street to Anacapa Street
- Turn right at the intersection of East Anapamu and Anacapa
- Drive 1/2 block to public parking lot next to library and across the street from
courthouse. (if there is a line of cars waiting to get into the lot, it will look worse
than it really is. when cars are backed up all the way to the street, the wait is about
8 minutes.
From the Parking Lot to La Arcada
- Once out of the parking lot, walk any route toward State street. It's almost
impossible to miss La Arcada. The distance between the parking lot and the courtyard is
never more than 100 feet.
- If you haven't found our courtyard within a minute or two after leaving the parking
lot, you are probably going the wrong directions, so ask for help.
- On the ground level there are various shops. All the offices are on the second floor
which rings the courtyard in a donut-like fashion.
From the Courtyard to My Office
My office number, 306, implies that there is a third floor; there isn't. Nor are the
offices numbered in strict sequential order. My best directions are:
- There are six ways to get from the courtyard to the second floor-two elevators and
four flights of stairs
- Find one and then ride or climb to the second floor
- Once on the second floor make an election to go clockwise or counterclockwise. Start
walking and look at the names on the offices-rather than the numbers-until you come to
mine.
- Once you start walking, don't change directions!
